NO pork, crustaceans, scavengers or raptors, camel, badger, rabbits
Kosher Animal Requirements
cloven hooved only/must chew cud (ruminants - sheep/cattle/goats/deer) but absolutely NO organ adhesions/lesions and the animal MUST BE CONSCIOUS WHEN THE CAROTID IS CUT
seafood with scales or fins are kosher, and so are other birds like chicken, geese, turkeys, ducks
Halal/Islamic Dietary Law
no pork, alcohol, omnivore/carnivore meat; slaughter must be by exsanguination and no boiling/electrocution/beating/etc
Can Islamics eat Kosher food?
yes, if Halal is not available
Do Kosher and Halal diets reduce the risk of infection by foodborne illnesses?
yes, cause they’re restricted to fewer sources of meat (so no trichinosis, ascaris suum, tularemia, etc)
Does the Humane Slaughter Act have an exemption for religion?
obviously, since we have access to these foods
