Reliability Flashcards
What’s reliability?
This refers to how consistent a test/study is.
-(There’s 2 types- external and internal).
What’s external reliability?
This refers to how consistently a method measures over time when repeated on different occasions. (E.G. an interview conducted one week should give the same outcome if conducted a week later for it to be reliable).
What’s internal reliability?
This refers to how consistently the test/experiment/study measures the behaviour in the same way throughout. Changes to procedures, experimenters, settings or sample during a research study can affect internal reliability. (one way to ensure IR is to use standardised procedures- written set of procedures the experimenter follows to ensure the experience of every participant is the same).
