What are the three different ways a marriage can end?
Separation, divorce and annulment
When a marriage ends, what is separation?
Separation-still married but live apart and relationship has ended. May be for financial reasons or for the children.
When a marriage ends, what is Divorce?
Divorce-marriage is legally ended
When a marriage ends, what is annulment?
Marriage ended and as if marriage never happened.
Annulment happens if:
Not in the right mind, forced, too quick, too young, related, lied in vows, not consumated.
Two quotes by Jesus about why your marriage should not end:
“What god has joined together let no one separate”.
“If a man divorces his wife and remarries he is guilty of adultery”.
What is marriage?
This is when two people make a promise to be together through vows along with God’s blessing.
What are the four types of family?
Nuclear family, extended family, reconstituted family, single parent family
What is a nuclear family?
Mother, father and children living as a unit
What is an extended family?
Children, parents and grandparents etc living as a unit very near to each other.
What is a reconstituted family?
Where two sets of children (stepbrothers and sisters) become one family when their divorced parents marry each other.
What is a single parent family?
Either a mother or father takes care of the children on their own.
What are the six main parts of the marriage ceremony in order?
1-Homily and readings, 2-questions, 3-vows, 4-acceptance and consent, 5-rings and blessing, 6-singing of register.
What are 10 good qualities of a good friend?
Kind, funny, supporting, generous, willing to help, loyal, respectful, trustworthy, honey, and caring
What pieces of information does a parish newsletter give you?
Mass times, events happening in the parish, other services, collection/what charities is money being raised for, the sick in the parish, those who have died recently in the parish, and contact details of the church.
