reliability
measures the consistency of research
internal reliability
This describes the internal consistency of a measure (i.e. consistency within itself), such as whether the different questions (known as ‘items’) in a questionnaire are all measuring the same thing.
-if research is kept the same and standardised for all procdeures
-is the study replicable to see if another researcher could get the same results
external reliabillity
y refers to how results compare to results between individuals and across time.
-has research been carried out on multiple participants
-for results to show a consistent trade there needs to be a large sample in order to establish consistent effect
