When is a 100 hour inspection required?
When the aircraft is operated for hire
What is the difference between 100-hour and annual inspection?
A&P can perform and return to service a 100-hour. Annual must be performed and signed off by a IA
How long can a 100-hour be extended?
10 hours but it is subtracted from the next 100-hour
What is a progressive inspection?
An inspection that allows the maintenance required on the annual or 100-hour to be performed in smaller segments over a 12-month period
Who must approve a progressive inspection?
FAA FSDO
What is a continuous inspection?
Used for complex aircraft that can’t be satisfactorily inspected under either the annual and 100-hour system or the progressive system.
What is a major alteration?
A change to the aircraft, engine, or propeller that is not listed in the appropriate TCDS or specifications that affects the airworthiness or the aircraft.
What is a minor alteration?
One that is not a major alteration and includes all alterations listed on the TCDS or Specifications.
What is preventative maintenance?
Simple or minor preservation operations and replacement of small standard parts not involving complex assembly operations.
Who can perform preventative maintenance?
Holder of a pilot certificate on any aircraft owned operated which is not under parts 121,125, or 135
