Urban decline: rust belt

In the rust belt the primary manufacturing was car production. However as these factories closed down this left a redundant workforce. As there was no work there was lots of outward migration. This lead to the economic and social decline with fewer people paying taxes.

• Less attached to the area if there is less activities for your age

Length of residents:

• The longer they live there the more attached they are as they associate memories there
• Short term residents are less likely to become involved

Levels of deprivation:

• The more deprived an area the more likely they would want to leave or want change.
• people in poorer area face prejudice or exploitation
