Manual labourers ae 3 times more likely to suffer from poor health. - higher risk of accidents/ exposure.
More people do manual jobs in North than South.
Non-manual jobs more likely to suffer from stress and mental health problems.
Why does education affect health patterns?
The more educated you are the more likely you are to choose a healthier lifestyle.
Poor eduation= poor knowledge on how to stay healthy
2003- 18.8% working in North had no qualifications vs South 10.7%.
Why does environment and pollution affect health patterns?
If in a big city of near major roads, more likely to suffer from poor health.
London has high mortality rate from respirator diseases.
Health in Devon and Cornwall have much less pollution so much better health there.
Why does gender influence health?
Women tend to live longer, but twice as likely to suffer form chronic illnesses, e.g. arthiritis, and 3 times more likely to suffer from migraines.
