Rural-urban continuum
Unbroken transition from sparsely populated rural areas to densely populated urban areas
Location quotient
A mapable ratio that helps show industrial specialisation. A figure close to 1 suggests there are no specialisations, a figure over 1 suggests there may be specialisations
Gross value added
Measures the contribution to the economy from each individual producer, industry or sector
Postcode lottery
Uneven distribution of local personal health services nationally.

Impacts of poor health linked to deprivation
Household food insecurity
A household level economic and social condition of limited or uncertain access to food
Sink estate
Housing estates characterised by high levels of economic and social deprivation. Hight crime levels drugs etc
Gated communities
Landscapes with 24/7 surveillance and sometimes security guards. Attempts to deter access by unknown people, reduce crime
Gentrification
Where poor areas are changed by wealthy people
Rebranding
The ‘’marketing’ aspect of regeneration. Designed to attract businesses, residents and visitors. Often involves re-imaging
Re-imaging
Making a place more attractive and desirable to invest in live in or visit
Baseline data
Information used to compare present day characteristics with past ones eg maps

For example services, economy. Makes sure regeneration goes well
