- Yorkshire has had a decline of primary and secondary sector which was its main source of income due to cheaper over sea competition, caused unemployment and derelict land. Tour de France- a cycling competition help to rebrand Yorkshire as a scenic area with good hotels and restaurants.

there has been a decline in the primary and secondary industries causing unemployment and derelict land and an increase of tertiary and quaternary jobs providing high income as they require higher skill.

secondary- manufacture raw materials
tertiary- services
quaternary- research and findings using technology

quaternary= knowledge economy
- quaternary sectors are foot loose can be placed anywhere, usually in areas of low tax and accessible
- old economy is the primary and secondary industry
- new economy is the tertiary and quaternary industry
- job types: half time, full-time, permanent, temporary. self employed, employed
- lower life expectancy, lower educational achievements, lower quality of life
- London due to it being the capital where senior governments are and it being expensive means income is also higher so it is affordable
