Reformation is changing Roman Catholic religion to Protestant religion
What was Martin luthers first complaint (to do with monks)
- monks were lazy and uneducated
- monks had no plan of following a religious life
- monks treated monasteries like 5 star hotels
What was Martin luthers second complaint
To do with priests
Priests often couldn’t read the bible and just read out nonsense which sounded like Latin

To do with services
All services were in Latin, only highly educated people could follow what was going on

Relics:
- some churches had things they said were sacred
- they had drops of Jesus’ blood, parts of gods breakfast, bits of virgin Mary’s dress
- these were all fake money making scams

Wealth:
-the church was very wealthy. The pope decided to raise more money to build St. Peter’s cathedral in Rome. This hit the poor very hard

-some priests had lots of money and lived a wealthy lifestyle but still hired uneducated monks to do their work

Bribery and corruption:
-paying money to secure a position in the church eg-bishop

People had to pay taxes to Rome even though the couldn’t afford it

It was a pardon (removed your) for sins, granted by church in exchange for money-to get a passport to heaven
