Some clengymen sold indulgenses to people claiming that if money was given to the church their time in purgatory would be decreased.

He wanted a divorce from Catherine and had a reason as Catherine was originally married to his brother. This was hard for the bishop to let happen as he had gone through so much to let them marry in the first place. This is when he broke away from the Catholic Church and became Protestant even though he still had catholic beliefs.
