Moro-startle reflex
Baby spreads arms out, then back in, then cries Disappears between 4-5 months
Tonic neck reflex
Known as the ‘fencing’ reflex
When the arm extends the direction that the babies head is facing and the opposite side is flexed
Appears at 2-3 weeks
Disappears at 6-9 months
Grasp reflex
When an object is placed in the infants hand and strokes their palm, their fingers will close around it and grasp
Appears at birth
Disappears by 5-6 months
Rooting Reflex
Infant turns head toward anything that strokes its cheek or mouth
After becoming used to responding this way, the infant will move directly to the object without seraching
Appears at birth
Disappears at 4 months
Suckling relfex
Child will suck anything tha touches the roof of their mouth
