Reflex and voluntary actions Flashcards
What type of response is reflex?
Quick, automatic, involuntary responses e.g pulling hand away from hot cooker
How can the neurons of the reflex pathways function?
Without instruction from the brain, instead information flows form the spinal cord, and then back out into the body, and then the body protects itself
What occurs in the most simple reflex pathways?
Information floes from the body to a sensory neuron that connects to an interneuron within the spine . That impulse then goes to a motor neuron running from the spinal cord back out to an effector, usually being a muscle
What are voluntary actions?
Actions involved with making a choice e.g walking, running, eating.
What information do voluntary actions require?
The brain, voluntary pathways gather the information collected from sensory neurons and then it goers to the brain. Interneurons carry information within the brain and spina cord
