The refracted light becomes dimmer and the reflected light becomes brighter

Why does light bend when it enters an optically dense medium?
A
Light changes speed when it enters mediums of different densities (faster in less dense mediums and slower in more dense mediums). Refraction is a result of the change in speed of light.
