Reflection Flashcards
What is light?
Light is a form of electromagnetic radiation. It’s a complicated oscillation of both magnetic and electric fields.
What speed does all electromagnetic speed move
3x10,8 m\s
What spectrum can we see
Visible (between uv and infured)
Info about shorter wavelength
- Highest frequency
- higher energy
- peaks are closer together
Info about longer wavelength
Low frequency and low energy
What can light be represented as?
-Waves
- wavefronts
-Rays
What is reflection?
Light is reflected when it meets an optical medium that doesn’t transmit or absorb it.
What is diffuse reflection?
Reflection of irregular surfaces causes light to reflect in different directions
What are the laws of reflection on a smooth surface reflection?
The incident and reflected rays and the normal all lie in the same place
-incidence and reflection are equal.
Describe image formation
Object can be seen as rays enter our eyes. Our brain decides where the object is located by determining where the rays cross.
What happens to the image when an object is reflected in a plane mirror?
The image is upright and a visual image.
How much visible light com a human perceive?
380 nm (blue) - 780nm(red)
Where does the image lie when locating it?
Behind the mirror
How do you locate an image of a complex object?
Do dot to bot
Will an object always have a reflected image?
No, it will only do as long as the object is in front of the mirror.
