  • Windows, doors and roofs strengthened to withstand strong winds (eg shutters)
  • Constructed using strong materials like concrete
  • Storm drains to take away access amounts of rainfall and reduce flooding
  • Sea walls to protect against storm surges
  • Houses near the coast are on stilts to prevent storm surge damage
  • Special cyclone centres built
