How do churches help Catholics to worship? 2 reasons
- They to provide a space where they can meet to worship together.
- And to provide space for individual prayer.
How was the Catholic Church built before 1965?
-The church was in the shape of a cross which reminds us that Jesus died on the cross.
- it faced east towards Jerusalem, which is where Jesus died and rose again
- it had the alter against the east wall and the masses were spoken in Latin.
How are Catholic churches built after 1965?
- they were built to ensure that many more people as possible can join in with the mass.
- and the altar is at the centre of the church at which makes the congregation sit around the altar.
Lectern
Is where the reader stand from where the Bible readings are given.
Crucifix
Is a model or image of a cross where Jesus crucified on it.
Tabernacle
Is a box where the consecrated bread is kept after the mass.
Altar
Is the place of the sacrifice from where the bread and wine are offered to God at mass.
What did Jesus show when he died?
