A

It is a pressed tablet and administered with an applicator

What happens to the Canesten pessary when added to water and which excipient is causing this to happen and why is it important to the formulation?

A

The tablet starts to break down into smaller pieces. The excipient which causes this is the disintegrant (maize starch). It is important to allow the tablet to stabilise in fluid

You can but the Dr should be informed. It is also recommended to use without the applicator to prevent harming the baby
