what is lead-the-market pay strategies
pay is an important job characteristics for almost all applicants.
pay more than the current market wages for a job.
higher pay make up for job’s less desirable features such as working on night shift or in dangerous conditions.
to make it as market leader to get “the best of the best” employees.
what is image advertising
employer of choice^^
organisations advertise themselves as a good place to work in general.
refers to advertising designed to create a generally favourable impression of the organisation
known as employer branding
important in a highly competitive labour markets
influences the degree on a person’s feel attracted to the organisation
employer of choice: depict an employer whose practices,policies and benefits and general work conditions have enabled it to successfully attract and retain talent because employees choose to work there.
when employees feel valued, it increase company’s ability to draw and maintain skilled employees.
what is recruitment sources?*
method and audiences the organisation chooses for communicating its labour needs will determine the size and nature of the labour market the organisation taps to fill vacant position.
what are the 2 recruitment sources
examples?
1.internal sources e.g job posting-communicating information about a job vacancy through employee publications
2.external sources*
direct applicants,referrals,advertisements on newpapers and magazines,electronic recruiting,public employment agencies,private employment agencies and colleges and universities.
advantages of internal recruiting
- faster and cheaper than looking outside
- attract well-known employees to the organisation
- these applicants are knowledgeable about the organisation’s vacancies which minimises the possibility of unrealistic job expectations.
what is direct applicants
apply a vacancy without prompting from the organisation
applicants know what they want. usually good branding of the organisation/image advertising

apply because someone in the organisation prompted them to do so
