Recording Sporting Movements Flashcards
What is a pixel?
A photosensitive element within a charged coupled device which registers how much light hits it
What is a 3 chip camera?
Has a prism which splits light into the 3 components red, blue and green
What is a 1 chip camera?
Has a bayer filter which only contains certain photo sites which record red blue or green light
Why are there more green light sensors?
As our eyes are more sensitive to green light
How do we get a good quality image?
FoV
Exposure to light
Shutter speed
Aperture
Lens distortion
What is the focal length?
Distance from the lens to the sensor at the back of the camera
Short FL- wide image
Long FL- Narrow image - zoomed in
What is the difference between optical and digital zoom?
Optical is where the glass in the lens is moved but digital is where smaller sections of the chip are used (more blurry)
What is shutter speed?
The time the lens is open letting light into the sensors
Why would we increase shutter speed?
To get a sharper image but some light may be lost so spotlights are required
What is aperture?
The size of the hole at the front of the camera that lets light in
What is the f number?
The ratio of focal length to diameter of aperture
Smaller f number = larger hole
How can video cameras make images brighter?
Combining aperture and gain
What is depth of field?
How much of the image is in focus
This increases as aperture decreases
What is lens distortion?
Pin cushion - ends of image are curved
Barrel - rounds edges of image
How do we set up a camera?
Perpendicular to planar movement
Turn auto focus off
