What was Lincoln’s ten percent plan?
The goal was to quickly reunite the union.
Only 10% of a state’s voters had to swear an oath of loyalty towards the union.
What is amnesty?
forgiveness of any crime committed
What was the Wade Davis Bill
Majority of white males would have to sign a loyalty oath before a state could return to the Union. Only those men could vote for delegates to write a new state Constitution.
Former Confederates could not hold office.
The Freedmen’s Bureau
provided emergency relief, set up schools, helped find jobs, and resolved disputes for the blacks.
Describe Lincoln’s Murder
It was April 14th 1865, at Ford’s theatre in Washington D.C.
John Wilkes Booth was the assassin.
Radical Republicans
The people who wanted African Americans to have as many rights as the whites. They went to extreme measures to make that happen. The Radical Republicans wants to protect the african americans and did not want the confederates to be a part of the government.
The Civil Rights Act of 1866
granting citizenship rights to African Americans and guaranteeing the civil rights of all people (except Native Americans).
