A

Delivered by Labor PM Paul Keating.
- “It begins with the act of recognition.”
- “We practiced discrimination and exclusion.”

A

Liberal PM John Howard refused to apologize at the Australian Reconciliation Convention in 1997 which led to delegates turning their backs on him, and others booing.

A

Activist group organized where 300000 hands were signed as a signal of reconciliation. It ultimately became a symbol for reconciliation.

A

250000 people crossed the Sydney Harbor Bring to bring awareness and persuade Howard to apologise.

Labor PM Kevin Rudd apologizes to the Stolen Generation and this is evidence to prove that the Stolen Generation actually happened and should not be denied.

  1. In 2015, Indigenous suicide rates were double that of the general population.
  2. Between 2015-2016 Indigenous children were almost 10 times more likely to be placed in out of home care than non-Indigenous children.
  3. Between 2014-2016 Indigenous children 0-4 were more than twice as likely to die than non-Indigenous infants.
  4. The unemployment rate of Indigenous Australian’s (19%) was 3.8 times the rate for non-Indigenous Australians (5%).
