What are the two goals of crisis intervention?
 teach and support
What are the phases of the stress model?
Baseline, triggering, escalation, outburst, and recovery 
What kind of behavior can be observed in the baseline phase?
The child’s normal state of functioning
What kind of behavior can be observed in the triggering phase?
Pacing, clenching fists
What kind of behavior can be observed in the escalation phase?
Yelling, demanding, threatening, and destroying property
What kinds of behaviors can be observed in the outburst phase?
Hitting others or harming self
What kinds of behaviors can be observed in the recovery phase?
Signs of calming down, withdrawn, fatigued
Describe the three possible outcomes of recovery
A higher level outcome where safety is restored and child and adults learn from the situation. No change, no growth where the crisis was handled, everything is back to normal, but the child did not learn anything and lower level, where the child is damaged by the crisis such as reduced and less likely to tolerate future situations 
What are the four questions in order?
What am I feeling?
What does the child feel need want or expect?
How is the environment affecting the child?
How do I best respond?
