Receptors Flashcards
What are muscarinic receptors?
A type of cholinergic receptor (acetylcholine).
Found at some sympathetic innervations - sweat glands and erector pili.
Vagus nerve is muscarinic.
All cholinergic receptors except for ganglia, adrenal glands and neuromuscular junctions are muscarinic.
What are nicotinic receptors?
A type of cholinergic receptor (acetylcholine).
Found at ganglia, neuromuscular junctions and the adrenal glands.
What do alpha-1 receptors do?
A type of adrenergic receptor (norepinephrine).
Vasoconstriction at skin and guts.
Pupil constriction.
GI and bladder sphincter constriction.
What do alpha-2 receptors do?
A type of adrenergic receptor (norepinephrine).
Relax GI muscles.
Decrease sympathetic stimulus to the heart.
What do beta-1 receptors do?
A type of adrenergic receptor (norepinephrine).
Increase heart rate and contractility.
What do beta-2 receptors do?
A type of adrenergic receptor (norepinephrine). Vasodilation of skeletal muscles. Bronchodilation. Uterine relaxation. Increase gluconeogenesis.
