Frequently in the area of cultural performance. Ritual and festival are two types of cultural performance with which you are probably most familiar. Q

The Message in Performance:

Visual Texts

A

Attract attention and stir the emotions of the audience. Two that rely on visual elements are intertextual performance and avant grade performance: Intertextual is interplay of texts; can be accomplished by referencing one or more secondary texts within the primary text. Like my movie.
Avant grade - elements of the body such as voice, gesture, and movement, to tun their bodies into works of art. Body art. ex: living sculptures where performers position themselves on street corners or other public areas. Mime, street performers stir emotions by defamiliarizing the familiar. Cumb to brush teeth wtf?
