Reactor Coolant (RCS) Flashcards
State the normal seal injection flow and where it goes.
8 GPM total
5.5 GPM flow into RCS
2.5 GPM flow up through radial bearing to VCT
.08 GPM to PDTT
Purpose of the RCP seal leak off line
- Send leakage past #3 RCP seal to the PDT
- give indication of seal failure
Purpose of the RCP flywheel.
Provides coastdown capability
The stored kinetic energy of the flywheel provides the extended flow time to ensure core cooling is achieved and to limit DNB.
How is the RCP motor cooled?
Air.
Purpose of the RCP thermal barrier.
Protect the seals on a loss of seal injection
PZR safety valve setpoint
2485 psig
How is OPMS places in service.
Two key-switches in the MCR.
Why is nitrogen aligned to the PRT?
Prevent an explosive atmosphere.
What interlock is there for the hot leg and cold leg isolation valves?
Cold leg isolation valve must be shut before the hot leg valve can be opened.
What is Tabs at 50% RX power
560F
How do we tell that natural circulation exists?
Indicated by the Steam Generator being at Psat for the cold leg temperature.
List the penetrations below the centerline of the RCS piping
- RHR inlet on A loop
- Loop drains
- Differential pressure taps for RCS flow
- RVLIS instrument system impulse lines (B&C loops)
