Reabsorbtion Of Salts And Blood Pressure Flashcards
Aldosterone
Stimulates the collecting ducts and distal tubule’s to re-absorb in Na ions and stimulate the secretion of K+ into the distal tubule and collecting ducts if K+ ion concentration in the blood is too high
- produced in adrenal gland
-ALDOSTERONE HAS A NET AFFECT OF RETAINING BOTH SALT AND WATER
Juxtaglomerulus apparatus
-Found near glomerulus
- contains blood pressure receptors which detect low blood pressure
-release renin
Renin
Enzyme which converts angiotensinogen to angiotensin
-angiotensin Causes constriction of the blood vessels which increase blood pressure and initiates the release of aldosterone which causes the fluid levels to increase
Maintaining blood PH
-due to the buffering action of carbonic acid and bicarbonate ions
-H+ is also secreted
Dialysis
-Diffusion of dissolved substances through semipermeable membrane
