9
Q

What major actions are taken for a RCP sheared shaft?

A

1) Trip RX
2) Trip affected RCP
3) Commence RCS cooldown per normal shutdown procedure
4) If impeller roation in pump casing is indicated for affected RCP then stop RCP in same loop per 1103.006.

Q

When will actions be initiated to enter RB for RCP oil addition?

A

RCP motor bearing temp exceeds 230 deg upper thrust bearing for P-32A, 167 deg F motor bearing for P-32B or 190 deg F any other motor bearing on P-32A,C,D.

Q

What major actions are taken for seal degradation?

A

1) Ensure seal bleedoff and Seal injection aligned.
2) Isolated seal bleedoff if seal injection unavailable to idle RCP
3) Reduce power and secure affected RCP if cavity pressure oscillations > 800 psi, DP across any stage > 2/3 system pressure, Loss of SI and > 2.5 gpm total seal outflow, or seal bleedoff or seal stage temp > 180 deg F and no interruption of seal injection or ICW flow.
4) Raise monitoring frequency if RCP seal pressure oscillations > 600 psi, > 2.5 gpm total seal outflow, RCP bleed off temp > 155 deg F, Seal bleedoff temp > 50 deg f above 1st stage temp, or failure of one stage as indicated by ~ 0 stage DP.

16
Q

What are major actions for simultaneous loss of SI and Seal Cooling?

A

Attempt to restore within 2 minutes, If 1 RCP in loop not affected reduce power within capacity of remaining pumps.

If unable to restore in 2 minutes, trip rx and trip RCP or trip RCP.

IF Seal injection and cooling not immediately restored and less than 30 min elapsed then restore ICW, check pump upper cavity pressure > 80% of RCS pressure and align seal bleedoff, If upper cavity pressure 20 - 65%, and lower cavity pressure 40 - 80% then start RCP. If bleed off temp < 180 deg F then over 2 min restore seal injection or > 180 deg F then establish 8 - 12 gpm for 30 min and then restore to 30 - 40 gpm. (IBEW).

If > 30 minutes with no SI or Seal cooling consult with Senior Manager prior to restarting RCP.

17
Q

What winding/bearing temperatures require RCP trip?

A
18
Q

What vibration values warrant tripping affected RCP?

A

If < 29 mils but greater than 25 mils shaft vibration and changes in motor/seal parameters then reduce power and trip pump.

19
Q

What RCP motor/bearing temps require securing RCP rather than tripping?

A
