What is the pathogenesis of RCC?

A

vHL tumour suppressor gene is inactivated (can be sporadic) which controls the Hypoxia inducible factor and usually degrades it, causing accumulation of HIF. This cause accumulation in angiogenic growth factors especially VEGF.
