risk factors? origins?
male, smoking, obesity, von hippel lindau, polycystic kidney
originates from proximal convoluted tubule epithelium
symptoms?
usually asymptomatic so found incidentally
flank pain, flank mass, hematuria, HTN, weight loss
metastasis: bone pain, anemia, weakness, IVC obstruction and varicocele, stauffer syndrome (liver metastasis), high ACTH, ADH
diagnosis?
incidental finding by imaging (US/CT with contrast. renal biopsy.
labs for metastasis (Ca, LFT)
what is a unique route of spread?
tumor thrombus into IVC causing obstruction. or in renal vein
treatment?
radical nephrectomy with removal of adrenal glands
what is the concern for an adult with new onset left varicocele?
left RCC
