REBT Theory of Change
Changing Irrational Beliefs to Rationsal beliefs improves emotional and behavioral functioning.
REBT Role of Therapist
Instructor, Confrontational, Direct.
REBT Treatment Goals
Alter Illogical beliefs and thinking patterns to improve.
REBT ABC
A-Activating Event: Something happens in environment to you.
B- Beliefs: You hold belief about yourself from event.
C- Consequence: You have an emotional response to the belief.
REBT Beginning Phase
Provide Psychoeducation about REBT, identify underlying irrational thought pattens and beliefs and resulting feelings and behaviors.
REBT Middle Phase
Challenge mistaken beliefs. Therapist challenges using direct and confrontational methods. Therapist is Blunt, honest, and logical to push clients to change. Clients encouraged to change by using-meditation, journaling, imagery.
REBT End Phase
Review Progress, apply learned skills to anticipated future struggles.
