  • 1850’s there was a 67% literate rate and in the 1900’s there was a 97% literate rate.
  • newpapers have a benefit as they can read results and match reports
  • by the 1922 BBC established and by the 1940’s most homes have radio - live coverage and 1930’s had the first world cup
