Rates Of Reaction 2 Flashcards
What’s the aim of the 1st experiment?
To investigate the reaction between sodium thiosulphate and hydrochloride acid.
How is the 1st experiment made fair?
Only the concentration of thiosulphate is changed. The acid concentration is kept constant.
What’s the aim of the 2nd experiment?
To investigate the reaction between magnesium ribbon and hydrochloric acid that depends on the concentration of the acid.
What’s step 1 in 1st experiment?
Measure the volume of sodium thiosulphate concentration and add it to the hydrochloric acid in the conical flask
What’s step 2 in 1st experiment?
Time how long it takes for the cross on the bottom of the conical flask to disappear using a stop watch.
What’s step 3 of 1st experiment?
Change the concentration of sodium thiosulphate by adding a smaller volume of solution to the flask and then adding water to make the volume 50cm3. Repeat step1+2 multiple times for each concentration.
What’s step 1 of 2nd experiment?
Choose an acid concentration (1M or 2M)
What’s step 2 of 2nd experiment?
Record a set time and time the reaction with it. Record the volume of gas produced after that set time.
What’s step 3 for 2nd experiment?
Change the reaction time and repeat the steps to obtain a series of values of volumes of gas and time.
