rate of reaction Flashcards
1
Q
describe an investigation to show how the concentration of sodium thiosulfate solution affects the rate of reaction with dilute hydrochloric acid
A
- use a measuring cylinder to add 10cm3 of sodium thiosulfate into a conical flask
- place conical flask onto a printed black cross
- add 10cm3 of dilute hydrochloric acid into the conical flask
- swirl the solution and start a stopwatch
- when you look down through the top of the flask you will see the solution has turned cloudy. stop the clock when you can no longer see the cross
- repeat experiment using different concentrations of sodium thiosulfate solution
- repeat whole experiment and calculate mean values for each concentration of sodium thiosulfate solution
