What to ask a patient about a lesion in their mouth?
A
- how long have the lesion been present
- Do you feel any discomfort or pain from the lesion?
- changing in size?
- any bleeding or fluid ?
- any difficulty swallowing
- any unintentional weight loss?

How would you perform E/O examination if she is presenting with a lesion in the mouth?
A
- facial asymmetry
- any visible extra oral lesions?
- TMJ problems
- Any limited mouth opening
- any lymphadenopathy?

A
- homogenous/non homogenous
- pedunculated? or no?
- exophytic or endophytic
- colour
-location - size (measure using intraoral ruler)

How to anaesthetise lesion before biopsy?
A
- deposit at base of the lesion on the centre
- blanching around lesion means it is working

how ensure area is numb ?
A
- by probing around lesion with sharp probe and asking the patient if they feel any pain

Which areas around lesions would you anaesthetise?
A
- around the lesion as a circle
- at three points around the lesion as triangle
- at 4 points around the lesion as a square

How to achieve haemostasis after excision of a lesion on the hard palate?
A
- use bipolar which is a heated tweezers this allows blood vessels to close
- suture a pack on top of the lesion , this can be removed at review appointment
