Rule out dangerous first
- hypoglycemia
- drugs/withdrawal
- meningitis/encephalitis (INFECTION CAUSES)
- Intracranial disease (BRAIN CAUSES)
- medications
- then metabolic causes

Glucose (hypo/hyper)
Metabolic, Meds - (02, C02, Na, temp, thiamine), Endocrine (adrenal insufficiency, hypothyroid, hypopituitism) Organ failure (encephalitis)

Dangerous causes of syncope
A
Cardiac (arrhythmia, MI, AD, cardiomyopathy, valvular disease, PE)
Haemorrhage - GI, ectopic preg, AAA
Other - subarachnoid haemorrhage
Non-dangerous Neurally mediated-vasovagal, cartoid sinus sensitivity Orthostatic - vasodilation/ypovolaemia -meds, alcohol -autonomic failure (postural hypo tension)
