What are the red flare procedures ?

Sub emergency

A

1) Break off attack.
2) Pass bearing and range of flare to ops.
3) Clear immediate area
Steer safety course / reciprocal
Avoid closing sub within 1500y
4) Increase to cavitation speed (13kts).
5) Switch on nav lights.
6) Broadcast to all units “emergency surfacing”.
7) Ensure UWT watch set, consider stoping transmission in long and medium range.
8) Switch off / recover / cut decoys.
9) Stand by to render assistance.
10) Inform OCS, mark plot on chart.
11) Prepare to lay quick release marker buoys.
