What is a period or Danger ?
What are they ?
Manoeuvres should be carried out for emergency purposes only with the realization that serious accident could easily occurs.

What is Pan Pan ?
Helo must land immediately upon arrival at it’s parent ship or the closest suitable alternate recovery ship.
What is MAYDAY ?
Helo must land or ditch immediately.
What is Delta ?
Visual racetrack holding pattern, oriented into wind at 200ft ASL normally using right hand turns adjacent to the intended recovery ship.
What is Delta Hover Astern ?
Helo hovering position, normally oriented into wind close to the ship port quarter.
What are the steps for ELVA?
Come up speed Most into wind Ships lighting max intensity Smokes equal to vis Open hangar doors People quarter deck listen aircraft
What is final approach area (FAA)?
2.5nm from ship and bounded 20’ either side of the final approach course.
What is final approach course (FAC)?
The magnetic bearing assigned by the ship borne air controller for the approach; normally an extension of the ship’s centre line.
What is ELVA ?
Vis less then 1/2 NM, less 200ft.
What is the control zone for seaking?
3500 ft

The OOW must inform the Duty Air Officer if the ship is in weather conditions that causes the ship to roll in excess of how many degrees ?
25 degrees
What is VMC (Visual Meteorological Conditions) ?
Meteorological conditions equal to or better than a ceiling of 300ft and visibility of 2nm.
Can make visual approach to ship.
Day / Night
What is IMC (Instrument Meteorological Conditions) ?
Meteorological conditions less than ceiling of 300ft and/or visibility of 2nm.
What is the exception to IMC.
Than then falls under Visual flying rules.
2 ship close to each other, to do deck to deck transfer as long as the ship is in the flying curse and within 500y.
