Describe Cushing’s reflex
Raised BP, lowered heart rate
Cause of pupil dilation with raised ICP
Compression of optic nerve
Describe how the body compensates for raised ICP
Reduce CSF volume
Main consequence of raised ICP
Herniation
Types of brain herniation
Subfalcine, Uncal, Tonsilar
Describe subfalcine herniation
Cingulate gyrus herniates under the falx cerebri
Describe uncal herniation
Uncus herniates through the tentorial notch
Describe tonsilar herniation
Cerebellar tonsils herniate through the foramen magnum
