Radius Flashcards
Radial Tuberosity
It’s a blunt and variable shaped structure on the anteromedial side of the proximal radial shaft. It marks the site of the bicep brachii muscle.
Oblique Line
On the anterior surface of the shaft. It spirals inferolaterally from its origin at the base of the radial tuberosity.
Interosseous Crest
The sharp medial edge of the radial shaft. It serves as the attachment site for a fibrous membrane (interosseous membrane) which divides the forearm into two compartments, anterior and posterior.
Styloid Process
Sharp projection on the lateral side of the distal radius.
Distal Articular Surface
Articulates with the wrist bones- The lunate on the medial side and the scaphoid on the lateral side.
Ulnar Notch
Concave articular hollow on the medial distal corner of the radius. It articulates with the distal end of the ulnar.
