Radiology sem 2 Flashcards
What is the difference between caries and cervical burnout
Caries:
* Close to the contact point
* Irregular radiolucency
* diffused radioluscency
* knife edge shape of enamel is usually lost
Cervical Burnout
* Close to alveolar crest
* band shaped
* well demarcated boarder of radioluscency
* Knife edge shape of enamel is usually intact.
What is the lamina dura
The lamina dura is the hard bony lining of the alveolus (Fig. 1), or socket, of a tooth, and together with the periodontal ligament and the cementum which coats the tooth root it forms the attachment apparatus of the tooth.
Is the lamina dura perforated? if so by what?
Lamina dura is perforated by by tiny channels containing blood, lymph vessels and nerves, linking PDL with cancellous portion of bone
What is a trabeculae pattern.
What is a cortical bone.
Trabeculae patter –> search online photo.
Cortical bone is any radiographically detectable layer that does not have an trabeculae patterns in it.
It’s a flat layer of very radiopaque bone as indicated by the arrows (which is the lamina dura itself) .
