Radiology Lec 2 Flashcards
Define
- Panorama
- Tomograph
- Panoramic radiograph
Panorama= unbroken/complete view of the whole region surrounding an observer
Tomography = a technique for displaying a representation of a cross section through a human body or other solid object using X-rays or ultrasound.
PAnoramic radiogrpah = two-dimensional (2-D)
dental x-ray examination that captures the entire mouth in a single image, including the teeth, upper and lower jaws, surrounding structures and tissues. The jaw is a curved structure similar to that of a horseshoe.
collimated meaning
(of rays of light or particles) made accurately parallel.
**
True/Flase. Structures closer to the beam casts sharper images.
false structures closer to the receptor casts sharper images
T/F. Structures closer to the source casts magnified & blurred images.
True
Compare the difference between object in, behind & anterior to focal trough
define focal trough/img layer.
The three-dimensional, horseshoe-shaped zone where images are sharp is called the focal trough, or image layer.
What is ghost IMG and how are they dispalyed (what are 3 main characteritics)?
Ghost IMG are displayed on the opposite side of where the object is.
- They are blurry
- HIgher up
- Opposite side.
check ghost img on slide 15&16
Can ghost IMG be on anatomical structures,
Yes they can. E.g. angle of the banidible. slide 16
How are double real Images formed?
They are formed when the beam passes structures in the midline (cervical spine & upwards) twice
H
Where does an object have to sit for it to be a single real IMG
When the object lies within the focal trough and also lies between the centre of rotation and the film
