Radiology of the Lower Limb Flashcards
What bones make up the lower limb
(Pelvis), femur, patella, tibia, fibula, bones of foot- tarsals/ metatarsals/ phalanges
How do you assess arthritis
Assess joints first ABCS
How do you assess fracture
Look at cortex and follow it around all bones
What are the names of the parts of a long bone
Epiphysis (metaphysis) diaphysis= shaft (metaphysis) epiphysis
How do you interpret fracture pattern
Multi-fragment, transverse, oblqique
How do you assess articular extension
Extra, intra
How do you assess angulation
Anterior, posterior
How do you assess displacement
None, 50%, 100%- +/- shortnening
How do you assess level of fracture
Diaphysis (shaft), epiphysis, metaphysis
How are distal fibula fractures classified
Using Weber classification
What are the ABCD’S search pattern
A- alignment, B- bone mineralisation, C- cartilage (including erosions), D- distribution of pathology, S-soft tissues
What are the anterior nerves of the lower limb
Femoral and obturator
What are the posterior nerves of the lower limb
Sciatic (tibial/ peroneal), common peroneal, tibial
What nerve supplies the adductor/ medial thigh
Obturator
What nerve supplies the posterior thigh
Sciatic
