RADIOLOGY Flashcards
1
Q
SUBLUXATION VS DISLOCATION
A
subluxation is a minor or incomplete dislocation, where the joint surfaces remain touching
dislocation is where the adjoining bones are no longer touching
2
Q
CT VS MRI
A
CT has excellent depiction of fractures and dislocations - bone detail
MRI is useful for soft tissue/ ligamentous injuries, spinal cord injury, etc
3
Q
DISCUSS ATYPICAL FRACTURES
A
insufficiency fracture - normal stress, abnormal bone
stress fracture - abnormal stress, normal bone
4
Q
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF ULTRASOUNDS
A
ADVANTAGES: available, quick and inexpensive
dynamic information and no radiation
DISADVANTAGES: operator dependent - prone to artefacts
unable to penetrate bone or deep inside joints
