6
Q

Difference between 50NP and 50WP

A

50NP: hight PRF is for target definition and good target detection at close range by providing more target returns per scan
50WP: low PRF keeps the average power high, provides the time needed to receive returns at longer ranges improving long range detection capabilities

Q

RRIU

A

Remote Radar interface Unit
Interfaces the ATS with the radar via full duplex data link. Allows the operator to control the radar
Also allow the pilots to control the radar through the PCU

Q

SPCU

A

Overall system timing and control, video/signal processing and radar scan conversion
Supplies the transmitter with command and control signal
Receives radar video inputs from the receiver
Contains control/sync circuitry, video signal processing circuitry, and scan converter circuitry

Q

Radar modes

A

Weather: optimize for weather (CTR)
Delay: area around the active cursor is magnified (only available on 50, 100, 200)
Freeze: display remain the same until box deselected
Erase: erase the display for a period of one sweep

Surface: land or sea
IF: linear and log. changes the IF Gain
CFAR: only in sea mode, allows more rejection of clutter

Q

Radar Sliders

A

STC: adjusts the amount of ground clutter
Ant sector: adjusts the coverage of the scan sweep around the centre point indicated by the active cursor
Threshold: adjusts the threshold level for the rejection of clutter
Linear gain: adjusts the level of linear gain
Overlay bright: adjusts the brightness of the radar overlay display
