What was the relationship between labor unions and black people in the 1890’s?

A

Labor unions didn’t let black people join because of their assumptions of their intelligence and skill, and morals. This meant many black workers couldn’t get better paying, safer jobs. leading to higher rates of crime which reinforced rasist beliefs

A

The black population was much younger, had more women, lower literacy, more poverty and crime, and more in the service industry, mortality and illness were higher. Had inferior access to education and jobs. this changed the perception from racial inferiority to racial prejudice.

A

fought against lynching school, segregation and voter disenfranchisement. Published records of thousands of lynchings over 30 years. used lawsuits to change school segregation and voter disenfranchisement. later on had parts in brown vs the board of education.
