What is the difference between race and ethnicity?
Race = social construct based on physical characteristics.
Ethnicity = shared beliefs, values, language, nationality, practices
What is the difference between stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination?
stereotypes = oversimplified ideas about a group
prejudice = thoughts or feelings of a group not based on experience
discrimination = actions taken towards that group
What is institutional racism?
When racism is embedded in a social system, influencing its policies and practices; reproduces inequality
What are some patterns of interaction?

What is pluralism?
Groups enter an area voluntarily but seek to maintain own culture
