Beliefs/practices, distinct group sharing natural and biological characteristics

Claims that characteristics point to fact that some races are naturally and permanently inferior

Natural for some races to be at bottom of strata to ensure society continues to function

What are the problems with the term racism?
Ignores social conditions that reproduce inequality at expense of concentrating on biological characteristics tat reign in physical difference to insure other factors that create inequality

Focus on culture, plays down power/ inequality, Marx focuses on social/economic cause of racism

Sense of belonging to particular community whose members share common cultural tradition
