quiz 3 Flashcards
aspiration techniques by trocar
the standard point of trocar entry is located 2 inches to the left of and 2 inches superior to the umbilicus
cavity embalming
- is a 2 step process of aspiration of organ/cavity contents and injection of cavity fluid
- takes place after arterial embalming
cavity embalming treatments
treats contents of hollow visceral, walls of viscera, contents, and spaces between them
closure of the abdominal opening
- suturing (with a purse suture or the N or Z suture)
- trocar button
cranial aspiration
small trocar is introduced into the nostril and pushed through the cribriform plate of the ethmoid bone
injection of cavity chemicals
- fluid is not diluted at all
- before, thoroughly aspirate and channel the cavities
- the chemicals are sprayed or made to flow over the anterior surface of the viscera close to the the anterior wall of the thoracic and abdominal cavities
instruments used in aspiration
hydroaspirator = specialized equipment connected to the water supply; creates suction for trocar aspiration of the body’s cavities
trocar = long hollow needle with a removable sharp point used to aspirate
nine region method
- in a grid
first row: right hypochondriac, epigastric, left hypochondriac
second row: right lumbar, umbilical, left lumbar
third row: right iliac, hypogastric, left iliac
order of treatment
thoracic cavity, abdominal cavity, then pelvic cavity
- this is for aspiration and injection
parenchyma
the functional tissue that comprises the bulk of the organ
purge from the brain
- Orifice = nose, ears, and eyelids
- Creamy white semisolid brain matter may exit through a fracture or the nasal passage
purge from the lungs
- Orifice = nose and mouth
- Frothy; and blood present is red in color, little odor
purge from the stomach
- Orifice = nose and mouth
- Liquids, semisolids, dark brown “coffee grounds” appearance; odor, acidic pH
quadrant method
right upper quadrant, left upper quadrant, right lower quadrant, left lower quadrant
stroma
comprises the blood vessels, connective tissue, ducts, and nerves
