Quiz 2 Study Guide Questions Flashcards
What is decomposition and what is rolling wave?
Decomposition: Breaking down higher level components into lower ones; deliverable oriented simplifying of the work to be done
What is PDM?
Precedence Diagramming Method. Shows project tasks (on a network diagram) in boxes, with the relationships depicted by arrows.
Also called AON (Activity on Node)
What is dependency determination
An determination of which tasks depend on each other, and how they depend on each other (mandatory, discretionary, external).
What is lead?
Modifying a logical relationship that allows the successor activity to be sped up (finished faster).
What is lag?
Modifying a logical relationship that causes the successor activity to be delayed (slowed down).
Forward passing
Determining the earliest times an activity can start and finish
Backward passing
Determining the latest times an activity can start and finish (without delaying the project)
Slack (or float)
Amount of time an activity can be delayed after the start of a longer parallel activity/activities.
Is also how far past its early finish date an activity can go without affecting the early start date of successor activities
How many types of activity estimating resources are there?
Top down: analogy, group, consensus or mathematical relationships
Bottom up (micro): elements of WBS
Top down estimates are preferable under these conditions
Strategic decision making.
High uncertainty
Internal, small project
Unstable scope
Bottom up estimates are preferable under these conditions
Cost and time are important
Fixed price contracts
